Philip M. Sampson is a physician assistant with over twenty years of experience in emergency medicine. Having cared for countless young patients, he’s seen firsthand how fear, especially of needles—can shape a child’s experience in healthcare.
Inspired to help families navigate those moments with understanding, he wrote Jimmy Goes to the Emergency Department, a story that turns anxiety into courage through empathy and education. Philip lives and practices in California’s Central Valley, where he continues his work in both medicine and storytelling.
